One Great Hour of Sharing – Oklahoma Relief: Thank you so very, very much for your help and participation in this months’ One Great Hour of Sharing Offering. Thanks to you and other Presbyterians all over our nation – donated One Great Hour of Sharing Funds are already on their way to Oklahoma to help those devastated by the recent tornado outbreak there. Thank you and God bless.
Summer Sunday School: As you are well aware by now, we need summer Sunday School teachers for the Elementary Class starting June 2nd. Won’t you please consider doing this a Sunday or two in June, July, or August! Some slots (dates) are already filled in on the sign- up sheets outside the elementary classroom and on the table and easel in the narthex, but we still need additional volunteers. Come share a Sunday morning with the children, for as Jesus said, “of such is the kingdom of heaven”. Please sign up soon!
The VBS committee and all volunteers are asked to meet immediately following the church service today in the Fellowship Hall. Final plans for VBS will be discussed. Lunch will be provided. If you have not volunteered but would like to, feel free to attend the meeting also.
Mission Opportunity at VBS: During VBS, we will be collecting items to ship to Moore Oklahoma for disaster relief in light of the recent tornadoes that have destroyed the town and surrounding area. We will be collecting diapers, work gloves, baby wipes, sunscreen, hand towels, Gatorade, hand sanitizer, trash bags, bottled water. We will set up a table in the fellowship hall for donations. We will also be accepting monetary donations as we will need money to either ship the items or gas money to possibly deliver the donations in person. We are working with the Moore Extension Office to assist in getting supplies to those in need. Please help make this a successful mission project and reach out to the victims of the tornadoes.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
Sunday, June 23rd – Tuesday, June 25th
Mark your calendars now!
Some of you may remember the opening sequence of the 1950’s TV show “The Adventures of Superman”? I know I do and it went something like this “Faster than a speeding bullet! More powerful than a locomotive! Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound! Look up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s Superman” Well when I was young Superman was a HERO. We all have to have heroes. In this day and time it might be a firefighter, a policeman, a sports figure, volunteers at HOPE ministry, people who go on mission trips. A hero can come from all walks of life. But, there have also been many HEROES IN THE BIBLE. Some were pretty powerful in their own right.
Come join us Sunday, June 23rd through Tuesday June 25th for VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL. The theme this year is HEROES IN THE BIBLE. We will look at stories about Joseph who was betrayed by his brothers only to become right hand man to the pharaoh of Egypt. We will study the man of steel himself, Samson. And of course how could we forget Moses, who led his people out of slavery in Egypt. We will have a light meal to begin the evening, songs, story time complete with skits, kid’s crafts and games as well as an adult class. We will finish the evening with dessert. What better way to spend three summer evenings?
There are volunteer opportunities galore. We need people to assist with food, crafts, leading songs, and acting in skits. We will have a meeting soon to complete plans and would love to have anyone interested to join in. Contact Donna or Lisa if you would like to help out with VBS. Put it on your calendar and plan to attend VBS this year.
